Homemade plum marmalade

Homemade marmelada damaskino

Ingredients

  • 1 Kgr plums (ripe)
  • 10 plum seeds
  • 500 gr. sugar
  • 100 gr. water
  • lemon juice of a half lemon
  • 1 cinnamon stick

Method

  1. Wash the plums well, open them in the middle, remove the seeds and keep aside 10 seeds.
  2. Transfer the seeds to a saucepan with the water and boil for 10 minutes. Remove the seeds and set the water aside.
  3. In a bowl add the plums, sugar, lemon juice cover with cooking film and leave them for 30 minutes, so that the plums get all their liquids.
  4. Transfer the contents of the bowl together with the water from the seeds that we left aside to a large saucepan.
  5. Place it on a medium to high heat and let it boil.
  6. Lower the temperature to medium, cover the pot and simmer for 25-30 minutes, until the plums get soft, stirring gently and frequently with a wooden spoon.
  7. Remove the marmalade from the heat, leave it to cool and then mash its contents with a (hand) blender.
  8. Serve or store the marmalade in sterile jars.
